PC sleep mode broken when running steam
So I've been trying to figure out what's going wrong. My PC has been trying to enter sleep mode, but then gets stuck. Monitors are cut out, but the PC lights and fans keep running. Nothing puts it to sleep except power button or waiting like 5+ minutes it will turn off on it's own.

Every time event viewer was showing this right before
The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000a0 (0x00000000000000f0, 0x0000000000000004, 0x000000000000000e, 0xffffc3061aaf4040).

Then I fiddled with some other DRAM timings and power modes in BIOS thinking I must have misconfigured something prior. And the symptom was the same but the event viewer just shows the last event before power off as:
The system is entering sleep.
Sleep Reason: System Idle

And then
The previous system shutdown at 6:41:28 PM on ‎8/‎14/‎2023 was unexpected.

Then I ran across a reddit thread commenting that the steam client was the problem. Preventing sleep mode. Well I wouldn't believe it. But I tested the manual suspend before steam finished loading, and it worked.. full sleep mode.

Then I resumed and tried again after steam had loaded... it loads on the "Store" page by default. I clicked suspend and it got stuck again. And now I will post this and goto suspend again and expect it will work because it is not on the store page.

So Steam Support, can you figure this out?

This is not support but a user forum, ask suggestion or make steam Ticket, and i and other has tried help before, ask steam for idle exit or other shutdown then done with DL and other option liker that. gl with it.

and worst way to say it what prevent you from exit steam client, just like any other app you close, as i said you need to understand both side of all, and who know if this cant backfire , if it think you are away in a game then shutdown, nothing is as simple as it sounds.

I did narrow the sleep problem down to

When steam is running, sleep is sometimes broken.
When steam is closed, sleep works fine.

I also saw someone mention NVIDIA HD Audio as a potential problem. I right clicked on it in device manager and updated the driver. After that steam is running and sleep is working fine. Problem resolved. Will report back if it reverts.
