Way to force cloud sync?
Up until now I had assumed that all saves would have been uploaded to the steam cloud automatically. Today I tried to play BG3 at my brother's house on my Steam Deck, and realized the last cloud save was hours behind where I am currently. Decided to play a different game on the Deck instead (thankfully I had Civ 6 installed).

In preparation for the next time I want to play on the Deck, I was looking for an option on the game, or on the steam desktop app on uploading local content to the cloud manually, or double checking that the most recent save was on the cloud before I leave the house, and couldn't find any way of doing that. All I can find on google is "make sure it's enabled", but no way to actually make sure my local files are copied to the cloud.

Does anybody know how that can be done?

Note that cloud syncing more or less happens whenever you exit the game.

You might want to esnure you have steam cloud enabled on BG3 on both your PC and the steamdeck

You do have to 'cleanly' exit the game though I believe. Are you rage-quittin Alt-F4 save scumming?

Go to Library, click on specific game. See "Cloud Status" to the right of "Play" button? If it shows "Out of sync" (or something similar) then double-click it to force re-upload of cloud save. If it shows "Up to date" yet you're still losing your saves then ask in game's hub about possible solutions/workarounds oooor disable Steam Cloud and move saves around manually.

I'm using M1 Mac Mini. Is there any way to manually upload the un-synced savegames to Steam cloud save? My Steam platform shows "Up to date" yet I am still losing my saves on the cloud, as opposed to the ones on local SSD.

What I ended up doing to force a resync was 1: open the game on the deck and select "stream from PC" option 2: close the game on both PC and Deck. 3: Open the game on pc choosing the play on PC option and this seems to do it.

I'm the third person who tried this and again it is useless advice and doesn't help

It worked 1,5 years ago when Steam server hiccup "out-of-date'd" saves for Orcs Must Die! 2 yet clicking on "Cloud Status" fixed it just fine. Don't think anything got changed drastically since then.

This. And if I ignore "Cloud Status" and click "Play" anyway then I properly receive "Cloud conflict: choose which save to keep" prompt. In 12+ years of using Steam got save rolled back only once, around 8 years ago during really bad Steam server outage. That's it.
Deal with antivirus or whatever program(s) you have that could be messing with Steam functions or simply

Feeling very discombobulated that my cloud saves are “up to date” in BG3 yet lacks over 100 hours of playtime…

I managed to force GeForce Now to upload my Wukong save to the Steam Cloud by launching the game on GeForce Now, immediately clicking on the Library button in the still-open Steam interface that shows up before the game launches, hitting "Cancel" to cancel the launch, and immediately right clicking the game icon in the Steam library sidebar. I believe having the right-click menu open and moving your cursor around a bit somehow tricked GeForce Now into not immediately closing the Virtual Machine again, so I just lingered on there for a minute to give the save file time to upload to Steam Cloud.
When I opened Wukong on my Steam Deck a minute later the file was successfully synced, and I could continue my GeForce Now save on my Deck.

This shouldn't be this much of a headache, and I'll probably quit using GeForce Now after my month is up. I'm now very worried I could lose save files over this in the future.
