What files should be in Program Files (x86) \ Steam?
Well after paying 250 dollars to get my custom built high performance computer scrubbed of everything that could be potentially harmful so I could play the Wargame Series; and then having said games crash when I start playing again, I'm wondering what should be in Steam folder? I was going there to delete the old saves from the wargame seires I just deleted and saw some crash reports but then saw some .dll files etc that didn't look like they belonged there or not. Could somebody tell me if I should delete these files?

Why didn't you format the hard drive, instead of paying 250 dollars to a technician? A proper format will delete any virus on the drive.

Your steam install is more then likely, corrupted.

Backup your steamapps folder and your userdata folder, and uninstall all traces of the steam client. Then restart your computer and redo the steam install. After that, drop the two folders in the steam folder BEFORE YOU LOG IN, so you avoid losing steam browser history/downloading games again.

corrupted? I have Windows 7 so some things might look different than what you have but there's the Steam file than the folder with all the games where they store their saves? But do you really think it's corrupted? Do you really think I should wipe all traces of steam off my computer?

And trust me I formatted it, defragged it, did everything, and then my gf downloaded a "free" version of Photoshop for me and BOOM mutherf*CKING WEATHRBUG, it took me about 48 non-stop without a break hours to get rid of every trace of that before and then some other scans showed a whole slew of other bugs so I was just like screw it rather pay 250 then try and delete weatherbug again that BUG is a nightmare.

*bump* Need a second opinion before uninstalling Steam and my entire library
If using a PC
- Please exit Steam, and navigate to the …\Steam\ directory (by default this is C:\Program Files\Steam - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).
- Delete all of the files in this folder except: Steam.exe and the \Steamapps\ and \Userdata\ folders
- Restart your computer and test the issue again

u wont lose anything nd install ur steam again without deleteing anything

No help here... But I was asking a similar question. Your folder is a lot cleaner than mine is... I was hoping to find a cleaning utility or what I can safely delete and then reinstall steam... I've had steam for a lot of years and moved it from many different drives etc.
