Windows 10 and the Home button

I'm running the Windows 10 Preview version. Everything worked just fine until a recent update to Win10 a few weeks ago. After this update, now long pressing the Home button on my 360 controller will not bring up Big Picture Mode anymore, like it used to. Long pressing Home doesn't do anything at all now. But now just pressing the Home button sometimes brings up a dialog window asking if I want to go to Windows 10's Game Bar.

Even though the 360 controller is working for games and it's obviously connected, I can't find any controller options in the Control Panel, like I used to have.

I realize that it's an unsupported Preview version of Windows 10, but the final version comes out in less than a month, and I'm sure Valve will want their client to work on what will end up being the next popular OS. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Big Picture Mode working again with the Home button long press?

Windows 10 uses the guide button for itself. You can open the XBox app and see if you can turn that off in the settings.

Haha. Thanks for the help. You can't get to the settings without signing in. I signed in, and the only thing in the settings has to do with recording videos. I actually found out you can get to the old Control Panel, and I found the 360 controller in there. But unfortunately, the only settings for it have to do with calibrating the controller, and nothing about setting the options for the Home button.

It sucks because a few weeks ago, opening Steam with the Home button worked just fine in Windows 10.

I was just hoping that of all the Steam users, maybe someone else is on Win10 and figured out how to handle this.

Here is how I fixed this on my PC (Windows 10 build 10162):
1. Open the Xbox app
2. Go to settings (gear on the lower left)
3. Select Game DVR (on the top)
4. Turn Game DVR off

I installed the Xbox 360 controller software before doing this, so you may need to install this as well (using the Win7 x64 package):

You are the man, sgtpoliteness. That worked perfectly. I already had the 360 controller software installed, so I didn't have to do that again, but turning off the Game DVR did the trick. Thank you so much!

This is still the case after official release; I couldn't figure out why windows 10 broke xbox one/360 controller home button in steam until google turned up this thread.

Still doesn't work for me :/ I disabled the DVR feature on the XBOX app but whenever I'm playing a game on Big Picture, I press the Home button and the Steam overlay does not works. Anyone else having this problem?

No, sorry, that's all it took to make it work for me. I did reboot afterwards to make sure that everything updated fully, but I'm not sure if that's required.

Is there also a possibility without loggin into a microsoft account?
Can't start the xbox app without :(

Nope. But you can use your existing email address for a Microsoft account.
