Steam in public hotspots
hello there,

because I will be traveling I will have to use some public wifi hotspots. Now my question is, is it really dangerous to log into my Steamaccount? Because i always thought Steam uses https and that way it would be fine.

Anyone now the answer to this?

Thank you very much,
Regards,

Mamsie

Using Steam on an unsecured public wi-fi is not recommended. The amount of cyber criminals who prey on open networks these days is rife and online bank accounts, shopping and gaming accounts like Steam should not be accessed by them unless it's a location within a hotel who uses its own wi-fi with private access - even then you should obtain guarantees that their passwords are changed every day before using. Avoid the likes of cafe's, restaurants and other public wi-fi areas with 'inpendent' internet access.
