How to disable Overheat Shutdown in Windows

That's it, I know some (a lot) people can do it from the BIOS configuration. There's no option in mine to do so. I've already deactivated all Cool & Quiet, Quiet Fan, Thermal Throttling for performance, but there's no "Shiut Down at this Temp" option.

When I'm playing Assassin's Creed 3, which uses like 90% of Six Cores (I measured it with MSI afterburned) the Processor reach a high but still safe temperature of 58° - 60°.

My computer shuts down inmediately, the temperature wont rise beyond that, I've played plenty of processor intensive games and temps doesn't go beyond 55°

I need to know if there is a way beside going to POWER OPTIONS and setting the Cooling Policy to passive.

My processor is an AMD FX-6100 OC to 3.5Ghz
Using Windows 8.1 x64
Motherboard is an ASRock N68C - GS FX

Overheat shutdown is to prevent damage (if not too late).
Whatever causes it, you cant ignore the problem away by disabling the function.

Something is overheating. If its not the cpu, its something else.

I've checked everything and I've ran proper maintenance to my machine since I upgraded my videocard some days ago.

The thermal paste is new, the Power Supply is also a new one, the CPU temperature during Desktop work doesn't go beyond 36° and when iddle it reaches 29°.

Nothing is overheating, I've monitored everything in my machine, from the Videocard, to the Power Supply, Hard Drives and so on, I think the 60° temperature that Assassin's Creed 3 makes my processor reach is still safe, no other game makes my computer shut down.

70°C is the max your processor can take.

It shouldn't even be that high. To put it in perspective.
My i7-4770k (known to run hot)

Idle: 29°C~33°C
GPU Intensive: 30~38°C
CPU Intensive: 36~45°C


Those are built-in safeties to prevent you from melting your CPU. You need to cool your CPU better.

The maximum temperature for my CPU (if you keep it constant it will damage) is 70° (taken from a question in Tom's Hardware forum)

For the GPU is 108° and it doesn't go beyond 60 - 70 most of times.

My temperatures during desktop work are almost the same as yours, that's why I assumed my cooling was ok, with the 95% of games it goes up to 45 -51°!

I wanted to disable the shutdown thing because even when Assassins Creed make it to 60° it doesn't stay there and goes below 53° most of time.

I just need to be able to play this game without shuting down my computer when it reaches 60° for half a second :/

Look in the Administrative tools / event veiwer. It might give you some info about the crash.

Seems like I better buy a super mega aftermarket cooler haha -_- if it can reduce 5° I'll be perfect.
