Steam Voice Chat, No Incoming Sound

Heyo, having a little problem with Steam voice chat.
Poeple can hear me, but I can't hear them. Yes, everything is turned up and whatnot.

Did you turn it up from the Sound Mixer at the bottom right of the Taskbar? It might be muted. Get somebody to ring you and find the individual sound mixer for the chat window and see if it's muted or not.

Everything that can be turned up is maxed out.

About 75% of my friends list, all of them can hear me. I can't hear them but Windows' output is showing audio and Steam is also showing audio.

Seems like you've got to sort out the output of the audio to make it go into your speakers/headset.

I have the same problem aswell... I can't hear it ringing when someone tries to call me or I try to call them.. And I can't hear my friends speak up.

Hi Guys. Do you also NOT hear the dial tone if you call a friend?

Make sure the Playback device you are using, i.e. speakers or headphones are also set to the default communication device. hey presto, should solve your problem. Note the playback device as well as the recording device needs to be set to the default communication device. Hope this helps.
