#1 I don't want ads, especially not for sites or services that have already gotten money out of me.
#2 akamaihd.net is behaving abnormally. This only cropped up within the last few days. As such I am treating it as a problem on their end that could result in a security breach on mine. The fact that one of the in-line ads tried to pass itself off as a security breach just emphasizes this point.

That ad is not for Steam or anything related to Steam or Valve, and it only appears when scripting from akamaihd.net is enabled. Furthermore, the gaps between the Steam/Store/Community section of the page and the Feature Items/Games/Software section and the search text entry box and the weeklong deals notice only appear when scripting from akamaihd.net is enabled. Edit: Also bear in mind that that advertisement interferes with proper usage of the menu elements.
This. Steam has never had any type of ads besides games on Steam itself, and only when using the client, not the browser version. Run you antivirus and some anti-malware. For the latest, people recommend Malwarebytes.
Strange. So it was. Something called DealMinue that doesn't turn up in any search results. Showed up with DDealMMine and DeeaolMinee in Program Files x86 and as a "DealMinue" extension in FireFox.
Oddly enough, it was the only thing installed on the day it shows as being installed, so I don't know how it got on my system, nor do I know why it only showed up when scripting from akamaihd.net was active.
Yes, and I also said it was showing up when scripting from akamaihd.net was enabled and that it showed up in other sites like pathofexile.com. I never said it was Steam-specific or caused by Steam itself.
Dealmine is an addon for firefox, could that be the way you got it.
The folders were created on the 25th, Windows says the one program was installed on the 26th, and I installed updated AMD drivers on the 23rd and Anarchy Online's beta client on the 27th.
