Can't find a good 50ft ethernet cord!?
I've tested 2 50ft cords and both will randomly spike up 20ms (or more) every now and then. I have a 25ft cord I've always used and my ping does not change more than 3ms... Where the hell can I get a 50ft cord that won't have ping spikes. I don't even understand why this happens, the internet is good the only changing factor is the cable that's being plugged in from my modem to my computer.

What kind of Ethernet cord did you buy? CAT5? CAT5E? CAT6? CAT7?

Should come with S-FTP for less interference.

50 feet ethernet is nowhere near the limits so it can't be length . I'm assuming you're using shielded. I'd make sure the lead was quality rather than cheaper & cat6 would be fine for the average office let alone home network.

The other option would be to use power to power ethernet. This only works on the same ring & doesn't like power adapters.

I've always preferred the latter rather than long cables everywhere.

The 2 50ft I tried were CAT6, the one that is stable for me is CAT5E

Honestly I'm not sure, I don't think any of them are shielded but idek

Is the cable you are using flat or rounded?

The good one is rounded, but I tried a flat cat6 and rounded cat6 that both didn't work for me

Ok, I was asking that because flat LAN cables are never shielded.

The length of the cable you are looking for shouldn't be a problem. Also, you should avoid crossing data cables over power cables (even when they are in the wall), because it can be susceptible to electromagnetic interference.

In my opinion you should check your router/firewall or network adapters first, because LAN cables usually dont cause ping issues. But if you are sure that everything works, you could try a different standard (like cat 6a) because it gives you the benefit of improved shielding compared to cat 6.
I mean if it is indeed the cable and you need a new one I've always liked www.monoprice.com for cabling.
What happens if you use the port where the good one is in?
I had many issues with flat type ethernet cable.
It was sold CAT7, but dropped CAT5 quality speed (100Mbps).

But when I purchased CAT8 (round) cable, it seems much more stable.
Assume its direcly into router then wallplug/ISP area, you sure this is not a ISP problem then it has worked before the spike issue. maybe ask them.
