Steam account from 2004/2005
I purchased my CS Condition Zero in 2004/5 and created a steam account at the time. I used it to play online for years until loosing my password and creating a new account. Today I have managed to recover my old account through my old email address. To my surprise the account was completely empty. No games, no data and no friends. I remember at the time I had an awesome low digit steam it. No it feels like it was wiped completely by valve/steam. How do I go about recovering all that data?

Log into the correct account.
Login to the correct account because this one was created in 2012

You most likely recovered a different account. Not the one where your games are.

If you have access to the email account, look for old emails from steam. Ideal would be a receipt from when you purchased a game.
The usually start with a greeting "Hello <account name>".
The account name is what you use when logging in to your account.

Use that account name to reset your password.

I am certainly logged in to the correct account. Steam went through major changes >2010 which must have somehow affected my account

"Major changes" do not include account creation dates.

What makes you certain it's the correct account? Did you write down the account name when you created it or something?

Is this account you're posting from the account you recovered?

I created my 2nd account in 2012 which I use to this day, so this was my only other account. It just doesnt makes sense to have two accounts created in 2012 with one of them tied to my only email which I used as a kid.

Yet those major changes did not affect other old accounts somehow? As with most such claims, the simplest explanation is often the correct one. You're on the wrong account.

You are 100% on the wrong account. We hear this story ALL THE TIME.
"No i really dont have any other account!"
And in the end its ALWAYS another account they completely forgot about.

Be aware that you can register as many accounts to the same email address as you want, even with the same name. So its super easy to accidentally create another account instead of login to a existing one.
I suspect the account you now use was created at the same time when you created your main account you are using for the last 10 years and you did not even notice that you accidentally made 2 accounts at that time.

So the account you recovered was another one you created in 2012 , NOT the original 2004/05 one.

In order to rule out possibility of having two account under the same email address I have changed the email address on this account and then tried to see if there was another account registered to that email which there was not. I am going to just give up at this point.....

UPDATE: as always the community is right. I had two accounts under the same email. As it came out to be a friend hi-jacked my first account which I have been able to recover:

its a good feeling to have it back more for sentimental value than anything.
