Steam 17 digit ID, safe to share with 3rd Party?

I am being asked to send my 17 ID to 3rd party since cannot link to the game through steam ... I bought game but game requires online link to their server.... which should happen through steam but is not. They are trying to see if can fix (common issue) ... but asking for information not sure is safe to share? It seems giving your ID gives full access to staying linked to your account even when not playing the game - seems risky, not sure worth the benefit of playing 1 game.
