AMD Catalyst Control Center maintain aspect ratio is instead stretching image to monitor
Hi,

Until recently, I had been playing CS:GO on 1280 x 1024 black bars or whatever weird resolution it was, but then I switched to 1024 x 768 so that I could run my monitor at 75 Hz instead of 60 Hz. However, now when I try running it at 1024 x 768, it actually stretches the image to my 16:10 monitor. I checked out the settings, and GPU up-scaling was still enabled, as was "Maintain aspect ratio," something that had always kept the black bars for me (which I prefer to stretched). I tried switching back and forth between all three GPU up-scaling options, but they all resulted in a stretched image. I tried updating my CCC, and I still ran into the same problem.

It's confusing because this was working on my other resolution. I used this, by the way, http://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU.

I'm running Windows 10, and my GPU is a Radeon 7970 (I know it is old, but this worked before).

How do I get it to stop stretching the image and get black bars back?

Update: I'm not the only one (http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=161337). So it seems this is a thing on lower resolutions?

Have you managed to resolve the issue?

if you haven't enabled gpu-scaling for all resolutions - i.e. monitor always gets full resolution picture - the scaling-options only affect resolutions, that are not natively supported by your monitor (other than 800x600, 1024x768 and such). in that case you have to go to the settings in your monitor and switch from fullscreen to 4:3 / keep aspect-ratio or whatever it is called there.

I never resolved the issue. I just started playing fullscreen 4:3, and instead of stretching it goes black bars. Idk.
