Downlad a game with my Laptop, play it offline on my PC?
Hello Steam-Community/Support,

at the moment I am punished with no internetconnection at home for several weeks due to provider issues. Because I got bored with the games already installed and, except for GTA, playable offline, I would like to install other Steam-Games. I have Internet with my laptop at work (and allowed to download stuff^^) and i would like to download one or two games with it and then transfer it to the PC. I own all the games longer than I have no Internet, so Steam on the PC "knows" that I actually own them, at least they show up in the library. I remember that the first Installation after download was always a bit tricky even when online ;) (that is when downloaded on an other device first and then just transfered the date)
Is there any chance that this might work full offline on the PC-side? And how would i have to do it? (If it helps, I could also install and update on the laptop first, for actual playing it lacks performance)
If it does not work for download-titels, might it work for Steam-Linked-DVD-Games I own?

Thanks for help ;)

In all cases your PC would most likely require to have an internet connection to verify the license of the game you just installed.
You can certainly try, but i can't guarantee it works.

Yeah sadly it can not be done. Steam will refuse to install the game in offline mode, either from back up file or direct copy of game folder.

Sad. So I will have to carry my PC around or wait till my stupid provider finally does what he is payed for.
Thanks for your help

You can use your phone to verify the files you've previously downloads on the laptop.

Well in laptop there will be no problem, but in order to play it in the PC, he either need to use backup feature or install normally and having steam recognize the game folder which both method can not be use on offline mode.

I expect you to actually read my post if you're quoting it. You've freely ignored at least five of the words, counted from the beginning.

I just dont understand on how verify download on laptop can help him play the game in the PC. Unless you meant :
1. Phone steam support (not likely)
2. Use his phone as a personal hot spot (more likely)

If its no.2, given his phone have the feature and enough bandwidth, yeah i think it could work.
But better check your contract though, some provider charge you extra if you use your mobile data as personal hotspot
