How to stop blurry fonts?
I just got a new laptop and the screen resolution is 1920 x 1080. I don't know if that's the cause, but pretty much every font and some borders and images that aren't generated by the OS are slightly blurry. My desktop looks amazing, but Steam is a blurfest. What can I do?

Well for Steam Client; go to Settings and un-tick the "Direct Write for Fonts" option; that helps.

Overall on a new display, u should run through Control Panel > Display > Adjust ClearType Text and see if making changes there helps for things outside of Steam.

I think Adjust ClearType Text worked well enough. Switching off Direct Write for Fonts in Steam didn't help, though. Everything still lacks sharpness, the letters are just thinner.

It is on the native res.

Upgraded to Windows 10, and it turns out it set all text to a size of 125%. Setting it to 100% took out the blurriness across most all of my programs, including Steam, but now everything is really small. -_-
Either u lower your screen res, or up the % for Fonts; pick one.
1080p generally will make text looking a bit small on laptop screens, especially on ones below 17 inch. Try a lower res of say 900p; see if that helps with things not looking so small. But again, whenever u not running native screen res, overall it may look slightly blurry because it's being stretched to fit.

Tick this: "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" from Steam.exe > Properties > Compatibility.

Yes and do that for any app where u do not want OS DPI changes to apply.
Each .EXE will have this option in the Properties.

That fixed it! Things got kinda small, but it's oh-so-clear! Thank you! :steamhappy:
I didn't know about that setting, thanks a lot. Now I can fully enjoy my shiny new display.
