[FIX for PC]!!! Steam Connection problem

I have a temp. fix for this.

go to Steam folder > userdata and delete the numbered file.
or move it.

Now try to log in, it'll work.

but it also removes your 'preferences'

BTW, tell if anyone who has this problem is using Win 10.

Does not work if you've reinstalled Steam

I actually just renamed the folder, started Steam, asked for password and then it worked! whew!

man i have a userdata folder but i dont have the folder number....
what can i do? iam with win7

I tried this and it didnt work. Using Windows 10 and have re-installed steam a couple times today. Got any suggestions? I've tried almost everything I have found.

Whelp! This is annoying. I wish I ran into this post like 4 hrs ago. Instead Google referred me to posts 3 years old.

I too have this issue. I tried a Reinstall prior to reading this. And no luck getting it working. After playing with ports / routers / etc. The odd thing my Brother (On the same network) has NO problems connecting to steam after update. And he is on Win 7. I was able to connect last night this morning nothing.

Yoo, I deleted the files but still can't log in.. ??
and somethimes now it wont even open the luncher. !

After abit more research, Windows recently launched a Win 10 Update. Today, shortly before Steam's Update. Perhaps a conflict? Wins updates were "Security updates"
