no i wanted gif:meatytears:
You cant upload a 9mb gif image as artwork. Also you need to have created the OC (original content) Just uploading a random gif isnt what your artwork section is for.
If you created it yourself, then should be easy to optimize it for a smaller size.

You know, you could just post that video to your profile.

Why don't you want to upload the video?
I'm also not sure how recorded video counts as artwork. At least professional art sites like DeviantArt or Pixiv doesn't. Neither does Steam as I see.
Lower the quality of the GIF with whatever software you used to convert it. In Photoshop it'll tell you how big the file will be before exporting, if your method doesn't show the final size just guess it lowering the quality till you can submit it.

I don't think he can lower it. Videos clock @ about 24 f/s. Even a one-second GIF gets quite large then.
Adobe ImageReady/Photoshop/Fireworks can optimize gif files to a lower size by lowering the resolution or lowering the quality (more noise by animated gifs)

Also chop out frames if needed.
Hm, right. Chopping out frames would help. Alot.
Not that a video counts as artwork though...
I think OP wants to decorate his profile with some animation, thats why videos won't cut for him. Personally I don't care what people upload to their own profile, as long they don't upload trash - troll gifs, memes directly to game hubs.

But still, having a own artwork on your profile is a far better feels as some gif. Damn worth the long hours spent in Photoshop. (or whatever other artists use)
