Is there a game translator that can capture your screen and automatically translate text?

I don't believe so.

There is a translation of photos from Google, translates the text almost perfectly, unfortunately, it works through the phone. And it's damn inconvenient. Are there really no such programs for PC?

Try the workshop and see if there's any translation mods for whatever game you're talking about.

Some games otherwise can allow switching the settings for the subtitles.

If you're talking about something in the game itself like items, walls etc then possibly also a mod from the workshop or nexusmods, some games support such mods. Else, look at the supported language(s) of the game before purchasing.

The JRPG is not very popular in my country. it is impossible to get a translation for 90% of the games, they do not exist. Passing the game in English, I am learning the language and can say with confidence that I have started to understand 50% of the text or I am already thinking about what is happening on the screen, what I see on the screen. But there are times when nothing is clear. At such moments, this miracle button with a translation would be very useful. p.s. I hope the translator did not disappoint.

Unfortunately, there are no other options.
Yes and no. there's a few workaround people use for visual novels, but it's a massive pain to set up.

recognizing text on a screen can by done by an OCR reader. then you just need a program that feeds the OCR text into a translator. some plugins to do this do exist, but they're usually 1) poorly written and 2) difficult to work with

I would recommend googling "visual novel OCR translator" if you want to try to find what other people have done for this. there's a few game specific programs but mostly for japanese translations. I saw a few being developed on github, you might be able to find an early alpha branch somewhere.

as someone already said, google translate can read text through your phone's camera, if those apps don't work out for you. it's probably the most reliable method

Maybe DeskTranslate could work?

I use ShareX's OCR, reads the text for you, and also lets you open the translation link with a single button.

Thank you for your answers. Yes, it brought some clarity to which programs I should try.
Hi guys, it's been a couple years since the last post in this thread. So was wondering if anything new has come out that does this efficiently, specifically for Japanese to English. On screen translation?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
