SNES controller adapter not working in Steam
I'm trying to use a known good SNES controller with my new Tomee SNES to USB adapter[www.amazon.com] in steam. Steam recognizes the controller[i.imgur.com], but I can't use Steam to change the configuration[i.imgur.com] (to remap buttons). It says "No Controller Attached." Additionally, it acts weird in Big Picture. No buttons work except the dpad, but each dpad press registers as 3 presses. The controller is not recognized in some games (e.g. Black Future 88), while it works perfectly in others (e.g. Cup Head). Windows recognizes the controller and correctly recognizes all buttons. Does anyone know if there's a fix?

At the Controller Settings screen, select the controller then Define Layout if you get that option (just selecting the controller may also take you to the Define Layout screen but I think not for your case). I suspect the dpad will return an axis, if so map it to Left Stick X and Left Stick Y.
