again, it has nothing to do with steam I have 187 hours on this game on Steam, it's your device not Steam's fault
He need to take hes idea to own linux group and get confirm from other linux users does it work.
Beyond that, you could try the Steam Linux forum, the chances of someone on the Oblivion forum playing it on Linux is somewhat unlikely, and so many things work the same between Bethesda games, someone may have had the issue in Skyrim or Fallout or something, so it may not be strictly an Oblivion only issue.

Dude the game was mad in 2006 and I doubt they are gunna update it for linex all these years later. Lol get wrekt.
that game worked in the past and still do on a true MS system, rest is your problem and lack of detail in what OS you are. ( linux mistake is not Bethesda problem , if you dont graps what it was build for or not, that actual your problem ) you think it us here, no its not, its your lack of skill and education and rest of the world will give a darn if its even a linux mistake , game is still not build for that OS. therefor you dont have game support and i doubt Behesda will go back and make it so. ( they are known for left the support and walk away and let modders fix rest.
you have no support. it ends there, take your crap to own linux group, maybe they can tell you how things is and repeat what i said in a nice way, so you graps what none support you have,
and thats why i said actual you are not welcome as linux user in a microsoft made title.
you lack skill in wrong system and when you actual have support to a game, Emulation has been seen before cause issue, even i see them in amiga emulators and c64. and if you read steam rules emulators are not welcom in any form.
so every linux user actual brake steam own rules, but that the problem here you have not been learned that such can happend.
Content Rules
Do not post any content on Steam containing the following:
Porn, inappropriate or offensive content, warez or leaked content or anything else not safe for work
Discussion of piracy including, but not limited to:
Console emulators
take your Proton issue to own linux group, you are actual not welcome anywhere. sense it fall under other things run through it.
and lets say steam change this, that dont mean game devs will support it.
And a sincere thank you to those of you who actually tried to help you know who you are.
