Weird DM from a Valve employee on discord
He said that there is something wrong on my account and he wants information?

What should I do? :steambored:

Just ask yourself...WHY ON EARTH WOULD A BILLION DOLLAR COMPANY use Discord?

That's right they wouldn't

Whoever you messages you is a scammer, block him and move on

How can I tell if it's a real or a fake employee, if it's real he might do something

Simple:

Do what the one who messaged you in Discord want's -> Get your Stuff stolen -> Learn from that experience -> be a smarter person

or

Believe what saint and me Wrote and block him.

Why do scam victims (or potential ones) believe the scammer but not the people who want to protect them from making a mistake? It is a mystery.

Valve employees do not communicate with end users via the cesspool known as Discord. It's a scam. Report to Discord and hope they care even a little bit.

Some people that I know believe they are actual valve employees and heard nothing from them.

A lot of these scammers rely on people's fear and ignorance. That's why it's always some kind of indirect threat to their account - usually along the lines of "I accidentally reported your account" or "I am investigating your account and need to make sure you didn't do x or y thing that is against the rules"

It makes people who aren't aware of these types of scams being scams (hence the ignorance part) afraid of losing their account, and of course people who have spent a lot of money on their accounts will be very afraid of all that money and time being lost. I can see why people are hesitant to believe the people who are trying to help them even if it's obviously a scam to us. We aren't the ones threatening their account, after all.
Ignore them, steam only emails you and doesnt use discord to contact you.

Tell that to Bethesda, who moved all their official forums to Discord. /facepalm

(but yeah, that "I'm an employee, let me scam you!" is an obvious scam.)

Hi, I'm from your (insert service provider) and you need to do stuff or you are in trouble. Don't worry about me contacting you in the forum of a gamaing platform, I'm totes legit...

You have a steam account. Valve has EVERY means they need of contacting you right at their finger tips. Why on earth would they use discord?

That sounds like an absolutely terrible move by them. Just terrible.
Still though, I would expect Bethesda to contact me through means that are not discord.
