look at you showcaselist in your profile settings
Artwork one has 3 small slots and a main one but at least 4 pieces of artwork must be uploaded to the profile for them to be filled. An upgrade in this instance allows for an extra showcase and not any more slots attached to the main one unlike the game collector one which allows for two more tier rows.
I think you're confusing the "Level up your showcases" and the "Additional showcases" section in the point shop. You can't upgrade/level up the artwork showcases, so he must've bought the additional one.
Also, when you buy an additional showcase, you also get an extra showcase slot. That's why I have more than 11 showcases, and OP now has two of them even though he's under level 20.
