Steam updating and posting all files to desktop
Every time I open Steam, it updates, acts as if I'm using a different computer, makes me enter a code from an Email, then posts all of the files on my desktop. If I delete them from my desktop it just does it again. It was working fine then it wouldn't open at all so I followed a tutorial on how to fix it and now it does this. I think I deleted a file "client.blob" or something like that. Now it does this. I'm new to the PC world so I don't know what I'm doing. I have it all messed up. I was going to just delete Steam then reinstall but I don't know if that will delete my games too. Someone help please.

you have moved or copied the Steam.exe to the desktop instead of creating a shortcut to it in it's installation folder... Move it back or delete the copy on the desktop, clean up the files and create a proper shortcut.

I never moved my steam folder or did anything to it, I just booted my computer one day and now it does this, there is no shortcut or any sort of steam file related to my desktop they are all in my hard drive. I checked the properties of my current shortcut and it said it was going to the hard drive... I'm clueless at this point but the same thing where it updates and makes me log in is happening as well

I know this is a few months ago but to those who have this problem:

Go to task manager --> End all Steam tasks --> Delete Steam Files

4 years later, you have reminded me NOT TO DO THAT. You are a very good blast from the past.
