Steam says I am always 'Online' or 'Away' even when logged off?

So I have recently noticed that steam never signs me out of my account, I stay logged on but away constantly. Steam guard is active and I haven't noticed any attempt at hacking etc. Just in case I disconnected all devices and changed my password now only my phone and PC should be able to log into my steam. Yet when I log out of both I still appear online as 'away', why?

Not sure if its relevant or not but I family share my steam library with my boyfriend which is why I noticed this, he could play my games even when I'm not logged in anywhere.

Does anyone have a reason this might happen?

**Edit(2016): I mangaed to fix this by changing my password, it seemed to solve the issue for now.

Have you set your status to Away manually? Becuase of you manually change it to away it hardly ever changes back to Online.

Nope, never changed my status. The problem is more that it says it when I'm not logged in on any of my devices.

I press Exit, which then takes me to the log in screen so it must log me out. Plus it does it when my PC isn't even turned on and when I'm not connected to the internet with my phone.

and how long after you exit do you check?
it can take some time to show offline in the browser.

Not long after, probably 5 minutes at most. But I have been out all morning for about 2 hours and my boyfriend was able to play my games that whole time e.g. steam recognised I was online despite my PC being turned off and phone not connected to the internet.

Hes not playing anything now but its still saying it, I'll leave it for awhile and see but if it still says 'away' any ideas? Just tried disconnecting my twitch which didn't work either.

I've done that, then reconnected just my PC and phone.
