Turn off Steam client/website profanity filter
Let me guess ... not possible?
I mean, it should be the user's choice, right? I'm an adult. I am logged in with my account. I don't want hearts where there should be something completely different. I don't need censorship to protect a fragile psyche. I write something harmless in my own screenshot title and I see my own stuff censored. It's absurd.

You guessed correctly. Keep in mind that such content is public and Valve wants to keep it family friendly.
Don't like it? Don't use it. That is your option.

There are children on Steam, so no, the profanity filter is a totally reasonable thing.

Two responses, both missing the point.

Exactly.

The OP wants an OPTION to be able to remove the filter, not to be compeltely disabled from Steam.

There is no such option unfortunately.

There is no such option unfortunately.

And there never will be.

If they allowed this option, people that shouldn't be disabling the filter would be.

I agree with the op. And I really don't care about what other people are doing or not. If they disable the filter, is their own responsibility and Steam wouldn't get their ass in danger anyways. Just make a big warning: "by disabling the mature filter, you might find unapropriate content for some ages and potential not safe for work content." and they're good to go.

It'd be the same of Google's Safe Search.

And I say if you can't post without the "hearts" then is something wrong with your etiquette and vocabulary.

Doesn't matters as long I'm sure this is something on what Steam will not back off.

Etiquette and vocabulary are not a discussable thing. We can't make everybody write correctly and politely. Anyway, I think a "content filter button" would be very appreciated by both sides.

Yes, your point is based on the principle that you don't like someone governing the content you consume. You have a problem with others performing censorship on your content. You want the option to read the profanity, see the violence, view the nudity...we get it.

I would think you would love the hearts, though. You get to fill in the blanks with all of the raunchiest words your little heart can dream up. Seems like it would be a dream come true for people like you.

If you need to swear to get your point across, you need to get off the internet in the first place.

The profanity filter exists for a reason.
