If you stick that in a PC you only get the controller charged, nothing more.
You need to connect the pad via USB receiver or BLUETOOTH to your PC ( if the pad support it).
You HAVE to look if the pad has the "Windows" logo on it when you buy them, this one does not. When i buy Xbox Pad´s for PC i always look for that sign because only those pads are 100% working with PC.
Better go for a official Xbox One pad from Microsoft, they may be a bit more expensive but they will work out the box without problems on Windows.
Go to Controller Settings screen (where Steam is showing you 'No Controllers Detected')
At bottom next to the Back button, see if there is an Unhide Devices button to click
If no Unhide Devices button, did you try the firmware updater with the new controller on the drivers that it originally installed (not the drivers used by the previous controller)? Does the updater detect the device in that situation?
OP, just buy a USB data cable for the controller.
It most likely came with a standard USB charge cable - there should be an indicator on the cable - so just get the right cable. They look nearly identical but they aren't the same thing.
If it came with a data cable, then the controller has some other issue; you have to contact the company about it.
wrong.
its a wired controller, it doesn't need bluetooth.. just read the FAQs, not rocket science. The Controller does not even have a Bluetooth connector..
"Q: Is it Bluetooth
A: No, it's completely wired. It must be plugged into the system for it to work. see less"
Q: Does the controller have bluetooth to use it for games on smart tvs, tablets, and mobile devices?
A: No, this controller needs to be plugged into the device see more
and so on..
You can literally see that its a removable cable on the screenshots. This will not work on PC with these pads.
You either need a hardwired pad which will be recognized as a USB controller or one with bluetooth/usb receiver.
Thats why that pad is missing the "compatible with Windows" logo that other Xbox One pads have, because it will not work on PC like this.
All the Power A controllers come with a removable cable, I bought one for my Switch thinking it was wireless but it isn’t.
Nope it does not.
I think you're both right and wrong. The controller does not have bluetooth compatibility whatsoever. Does not discover as a bluetooth device and I can use my existing controller to use it as a data cable no bluetooth required. However I believe you are right, I will have to shell out for a more expensive controller if I want it to work. Is what it is. I borrowed a second of my buddy's actual xbox controllers and it works fine, same as his other. I don't think there's anything I can do.
I only ever tried to get the firmware updater to work when I was using original drivers. However I sent them a tech support email and to their credit, they did give me a speedy reply and basically said, "go back to Walmart and exchange it for a new one, see if it makes a difference" and I am 90% sure that won't change a thing. The controller works fine when I use it on an Xbox as intended. Instead of exchanging it for the same thing, I'm just going to shell out the extra 30 bucks and get a full-price normal one.
Thanks for everyone's input
