game updates and downloads timing out after steam client update
my steam client just updated. before i get into my issue. letme just say that i am not impressed with the new game properties menu. I want the old one back. I don't use the "big picture" mode because i don't like the interface. forcing on us using the game properties menu is wrong.

anyways....

since steam updated earlier this morning, all my game updates are cycling through the list and not downloading at all. not even validation seems to be working anymore. validation just sits stuck at 0%. I tried launching one of the games hoping that i could force it into downloading the update, but it just sat there and finally displayed a message that the connection timed out. Is anyone else having this issue? I am going to look at the steam logs shortly, but if the issue is with the software or the servers, there isn't much i can do.

looked at the cef_log.txt file and noticed that the SSL hand shake i failing for some reason. I don't know if the download connection to the server uses SSL or is encrypted, but if it is, then this could be the cause of the time out.

fixed download issue by performing the steps below:

I set teredo settings back to 'enterpriseclient'
I flushed the DNS cache using ipconfig
i renewed the network adapter lease
I closed and re-opened steam

I believe it was the teredo setting that fixed everything for me. I rely on a 6to4 tunnel to access
ipv6 content, and Microsoft keeps changing the setting back to 'natawareclient' which basically breaks the teredo 6to4 access. you can tell whether its broken or not by going to windows settings>gaming>xbox netwworking ad select check connection. this will check your teredo connection. if it says it's unable to quantify your connection, it is not working.

here's what the default (broken state) of the teredo connection looks like:

Teredo Parameters
---------------------------------------------
Type : natawareclient
Server Name : win1910.ipv6.microsoft.com.
Client Refresh Interval : 20 seconds
Client Port : 3544
State : probe (primary server)
Client Type : teredo host-specific relay
Network : unmanaged

here's what it looks like when it is working properly:

Teredo Parameters
---------------------------------------------
Type : enterpriseclient
Server Name : win1910.ipv6.microsoft.com.
Client Refresh Interval : 20 seconds
Client Port : 3544
State : qualified
Client Type : teredo host-specific relay
Network : unmanaged
NAT : cone
NAT Special Behaviour : UPNP: Yes, PortPreserving: Yes
Local Mapping : 192.168.1.3:3544
External NAT Mapping : xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:3544 (external IP address hidden for safety)
