Can you trade on a new steam account after you activate the SMA? (with the 15 days cooldown of course)
I can't find any info about it on the FAQ, and do I need to make any transactions to do so?

No. You must wait 15 days after you unlimit the account and enable guard.

I know i have to wait 15 days after enabling SMA but my question is, do i need to buy something from an official store to unlimit the account or i can instantly trade following the 15 days cooldown without any transactions?
sorry for bad english

You must unlimit the account by directly adding the equivalent of $5 as well.

In order to trade, you need to meet two requirements.
- account need to be unlimited.

- Steam guard need to be active at all time, and need to be more than 15 days active. If you turn it off, it's back to zero, and remain zero until you turn it back on, and wait 15 days.

That's about it.

To bypass trade holds, you only need one thing.

- Steam guard mobile authenticator, once you link it to your account, and been active for more than 7 days on the account. Please note if both parties trading to each other sending, and receiving, both parties need the app and must be more than 7 days active on both accounts, in order to bypass trade holds. Gifting items is a one way trade, the person that sending need the app to confirm and bypass trade hold.

Market place has three requirements to use it.

- Must be unlimited.
- Need to buy something on Steam store once every 365 days, doesn't matter what the cost as long it's something, as need a transaction that no older than 365 days to keep access to market place. If you haven't bought something within 365, when you buy something your transaction need to be older than 7 days to regain access.
- Steam guard need to be active for more than 15 days.

That's about it.

To bypass market place hold just need one thing.
- Steam guard mobile authenticator, link to your account, need to be active for more than 7 days.

I could gift items to someone who had tradehold but now I cant to an account I made yesterday. I activated sma same day but even though it counts as gift I have to wait?

New account can't trade automatically. Steam guard must be active for 15 days. Steam mobile guard can shorten it to 7 days, that means still have to wait 7 days before you can start trading.

If you deactivate Steam guard you can't trade period. When you reactivate Steam guard have to wait 15 days again, or if you reactivate with Steam mobile guard, have to wait 7 days again.

So if you made account today, and activate Steam mobile guard you need to count 7 days from now. Let say you did it at 2am may 7th, you have to wait until 2am ,may 14th.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
