I bought rdr2 when it came out on pc on steam.
I installed it, but i couldnt get it to work and i refunded it.
A week later i bought it on Rockstar games launcher and it worked there, played for 2 weeks and uninstalled it because i needed space for other games.
Now this week i installed it again from the Rockstar games launcher and i say that the installpath was in the steamlibrary but i was like ''sure whatever''
After it installed and trying to play it, it kept saying ''play on steam'' While i clearly dont have the game on steam but on Rockstar games launcher.
After uninstalling again and changing the installpath to something else, the game worked.
Ever since Rockstar launched there games launcher it causes problems like this,
When purchasing RDR2 on Steam you would have linked the game to the Rockstar launcher and your account. Upon refunding the link presumably is still valid causing confusion when try to install after purchasing via the Rockstar launcher.
Contact Rockstar and explain the issue. They maybe can unlink the game from Steam so future install errors will not happen.
You can also copy the entire game folder to a backup drive and uninstall. Next time you want to install start the download and wait for it to trigger then pause it, exit the launcher, then copy, paste the backup overwriting all existing files. Delete the files in the download folder. When you start the launcher again it will verify existing files.
