Can I download the Steam game files without installing?

Hi,

I'm going to be moving from a high speed broadband area to a very slow one in the next few weeks and was wondering if it was possible to just download the game files for the titles in my library without running the install for them.

I want the files to be available so I can install them whenever I want to from my HD.

I think you meant the opposite,the install will always be required but you can store part of the content of any installed products you have and when transferring to another machine you won't be needing to download whole package,I think is called Backup Game Files.

Yeah the only way I have seen it is to install the game and backup the game files. I was just looking for a way to do everything except run the install at the end

There's no installer at the end. Only the runtime installers but they're only called when you start the game.
So what you want is to download the game through Steam without starting it.

I just trold you: Downoad the game and don't start it. No installers will be run then.
