I'm in asia and I'm getting better ping in america than in SE Asia.

I live in Vietnam and I have been playing DotA 2 fine with 50-100 ping untill suddenly, I constantly got around 200 ping. I use an ethernet cable and I even have better ping on US West server than on SE Asia server now.

I do not have any VPNs running in the background. The problem happened all of a sudden without me changing anything.

probably your region has backbone trouble,
that is quite common.
probably give it a day or two for whoever responsible for that region's backbone
(chances are Singapore area)

Maybe they got better Servers...or your Internet Provider got better Connections to US Servers... :)
