Fallout 3 code

Hello, because I bought Fallout 4 it made me remember that I bought the 3 in box a long time ago. So I looked for it and found it. I wanted to add it to my steam account so I selected add a game and entered the code, but it does not seem to work.
Any idea how I can do that ?

You could try writing to Bethesda and ask them for a valid Steam key.

Wait, do you still have the disk?

If you do still have the disk, you can just download it onto your PC, then click "add a non-Steam game to my library" and then you can access the application whenever you want.

that link clearly not means that only those games have keys or something fallout 3 do have a steam key what it actually say when u try to add invalid or duplicated or what?
and yah there is windows live version disk before it maybe not even steam version the key is for windows live and now windows live is removed from fallout 3 so means key is useless if its say somewhere in box its live access key..
