I would like to be able to rename games in my Steam Library

I would like to be able to rename games in MY Steam Library. For example, I would like to rename games of the same Franchise the way I name their shortcuts I place in my Game Subdirectories on my Windows PC.

For example, I include the year of release in the shortcut name so I can see them listed in sequence of release, rather than alpha-numeric such as:

Call of Duty 2003 v1 Single Player
Call of Duty 2003 v1a Multiplayer
Call of Duty 2005 v2 Single Player
Call of Duty 2007 v4 Modern Warfare Single Player
Call of Duty 2020 Black OPS Cold War Campaign=SP, Zombies avail in SP


...without the the year as discriminator, MY Steam Library would list Modern Warfare v4 of 2007 BEFORE Call of Duty v1 from 2003. Black Ops Cold War of 2020 is currently listed first in MY STEAM Library because "Black Ops" of 2020 sorts before "Modern Warfare" of 2007.

I am 59, learned DOS in 1989, and organize hundreds of thousands of digital photos using similar hierarchical nomenclature...I am a Data Analyst for the DoD, so organization is kind of my "thing".

Any suggestions anyone?

Has been a suggested feature for the last 10 years or so but still not possible.
The only games you can rename are Non Steam Games you added in your library.

Quite a few do. There are some threads in the suggestion forum.

In "All games " in your library there is an option to put them in release order with the date of release. You can do it to groups you created too

Sorting by release date will not keep games from a franchise grouped together...nice try though.

Naturally, I have placed each STEAM GAME icon in a sub-directory structure on my hard drive and I end up with something like this:
