The first one is Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Prophecy, which about 50% of the time I get no audio on my labtop. After rebooting, changing audio sampling setting, etc. I usually am able to stream to my labtop with audio.
The second game is Supreme Commander 2, which I have gotten audio twice.
Both my desktop and labtop are running Windows 10 64bit. Both games work fine if I play directly from my desktop.
I believe it may have something to do with steam's streaming software.
If so, it may have to do with your speaker software. You can find that somewhere near your date and time.
Control panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Sound. From there, go to the communications tab. There you will find the settings: "When Windows detects communication activity".
The following options are available:
Mute all other sounds.
Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%
Reduce the volume of other sounds by 30%
Do Nothing.
Select do nothing, apply, ok.
or
Run the Playing audio troubleshoot - open Start > Settings > Update & security > Troubleshoot
Scroll down, select Playing audio
Click Run the troubleshooter
When complete, restart your computer then check if audio is working again.
Press Windows key + X
Click Device Manager
Expand Sound, video and game controllers
Right click your audio adapter
Click Properties
Click the Driver tab
Is there an option rollback?
If so, click it.
Also, check to make sure the audio driver is fully updated. This is often the problem when you upgrade to a new version of Windows 10. Sometimes reinstalling the latest available driver from the manufacturers website helps.
Open Start, type: change sound card
Select the Playback
Right click your Speakers
Click Set as Default Device if it isn't already
Select your speakers
Click Properties
Click the Levels tab
Use the slider to adjust level
I also removed/deleted the Windows10 audio driver then go online to get the most current one.
There could be something that creates a conflict, incorrect registry, names etc. Use a program like CCleaner to check errors and possibly repair them.
I rebooted my labtop and tried again to stream SC2 from desktop but didn't get audio. I'll try again loading up some of those older games and try again with SC2. May I'm getting an audio codex in labtop memory that's allowing SC2 to work.
Maybe I should have done what I did before, load into all old games one at a time and at the end then tried loading SC2. I'll mess around with it in the next 24 hrs.
Thanks a lot for the help.
Older games will also ask you, with admin rights, to change certain configurations, installing an older DX version overwriting the latest one, older drivers etc. Be aware of that.
