Whats a good sci-fi game [open world + like Mass Effect]

I want to explore the Citadel again....For the Nth time. But guns and bombs are getting old. Is there something thats more RPG based or even no violence at all?

Im looking for a game most similar to Mass Effect. With good visual aesthetic preferably, and that has a sci fi setting. Preferably open world and atmospheric.

It's very hard to find an open world, RPG with a good story and little-to-no violence. But I can think of a allot of good games that are Sci-Fi (A few Fantasy if you're willing to give that a try), Have a good story, but not so much open world.

I would highly recommend SOMA, it's not as scary as the developers previous games, and they even said they were not trying to go for scary with SOMA. It's in the same vein as it's predecessors and similar to Outlast, in that you can't do any damage, just run or hide. I would say it's not even scary though, just very atmospheric with a great sci-fi story (great story in general). It has pretty good visuals also, check out a few reviews, you might be pleasantly surprised.

Also here's a couple other games that may fit into some of your criteria:
Rebel Galaxy.
Alpha Protocol.
Final Fantasy XIII.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I & II.
XCOM (strategy).
Any of the Fallout games.
Transistor.
Shadowrun Dragonfall.

Note, I haven't played many of these games yet but I own a lot of them, so look them up and read the reviews. I too wish they're were more games like the Mass Effect series.
