Because of scams and such. You know, phishers, bots, sketchy things going on with betting sites, and all that jazz.

77,000 Steam accounts are hijacked every month. People keep complaining about how long it takes for Steam Support to retrieve their stolen account, and demanded that they do something about it. So they did.

They should use common sense or warnings because we can prevent it if we ignore or block scamming bot not clicking on the links

That doesn't work, the bots would just continue to go after everyone who is gullible enough to fall for it, which is a LOT of people.

People make a lot of money by stealing Steam accounts and selling their items. Valve made this change to ruin their business.

They should, but they don't. That's the harsh reality.

Since trading is not a necessity the same way Steam Support is, when the former clogs up the latter, there have to be measures.

If they had a rock cold heart, they'd have just killed off trading entirely and left Market in place. Market gets them money and doesn't clog up the support, but instead they chose to make a compromise.

You all have a point there because many beginners who are stupid enough to click on links are mostly the victims of scamming bots hope we can find the origins of the scamming bots mostly russians

There should be an option to turn it off and accept the risk, and if you do get scammed with it turned off steam support won't help you, I'm tired of having to wait a week to trade :steambored:

That is a great idea. We should be able to turn it off, but for the safety of Steam users we should require people to connect their phones to Steam to verify their accounts and wait a few days to reconfirm that they want to disable the trading safety measures.

Hijackers already turn off people's trade confirmations too.

There's even people who give other people links to the confirmation pages. This wouldn't solve anything.

They are doing the best that they can but the only thing that stopping them are the new policy of valve because the bots are not prepared for the new policy valve make things complicated

Well, that's clearly not changing by the looks of things.
