2 PC's 1 Steam account
I own the steam account in our home and as my son is 8 years old he doesn't have one. I have games he plays, and games I play - however we can't ever play different games at the same time. - Anyway around this apart from having multiple accounts? And if I have to have multiple accounts can I transfer purchases from one account to the other as I don't much like the idea of paying twice for the same game :(

You have two options. You can make a 2nd account and enable family sharing, complete with parental controls. You can give access to your games so that he can play on the other PC. Other than that, you can just log into your account on the 2nd PC, save your user name and password to auto log in, then go to offline mode.

No you cannot transfer purchases to new accounts once they are "activated" in your Steam Library they are tied to that Library forever. Even if you don't play a game for years and years.

You can sometimes "get around" the issue you are having by one (or both) of you merely playing games with Steam in "Offline mode".

Buuuut.. Account sharing is against the rules, so.... i dunno. Maybe it is alright with your 8 year old son, i dunno, but in the Steam Subscriber Agreement you agreed to when you installed Steam you said you wouldn't share your account with others. So...

Even if King Seaweed does that he will still have the problem of him and his son being unable to play at the same time. Even with Family Share only one person can play a game in a shared Library at a time.

So even with Family Share if King Seaweed is playing a game his son won't be able to play a game from his father's Library. ...or.. if the son is playing King Seaweed won't be able to play.

Correct, I left that part out unintentionally. Only one person on a game at a time. As has been said, one account can be put into offline mode, but you still won't be able to play any MP games together as you'll both be using the same Key.

Also, as a side note, the "sharing account" is a bit of a gray area. You can let someone USE your account, but two people can't OWN the account. So, letting your son use the account is fine, you just can't say he owns it too :)
