Entering my cell phone number in the Steam Account area, keeps coming back with "Phone number is not allowed, please use a different one". This is the only cell phone number I have, why is it not allowed?

First, make sure you are entering your phone in international format (with '+' and your country code first).

Make sure that your country code is correct (Steam tries to guess where you are in the world, but you can also select your location from the menu below your phone number).

Valve does not allow certain phone numbers, such as toll-free numbers and VoIP numbers. If your phone number is being rejected and you think that the rejection is in error, please contact Support.

It is a standard US number that I have had for a while and everything is current and correct. So I will ask again, why am I getting that error? The standard Steam response you posted does not answer my question.

Have you provided the phone number in the proper format and is it a cellular number?
