Shift + tab lag

whenever i press shift + tab it doesnt immediately open the steam overlay i have to mash it a bunch of times and its random , the same for closing it.Any suggestions on how to fix this?

ALT+TAB is not the problem. It's Shift + TAB (Open overlay)

Maybe if OP states his specs, it might show low end PC with old hardware, while Steam + overlay take a huge bite from the little amount of resources left that's needed to switch smoothly. Turning down settings might help in reducing lag.

Happening to me on a high end PC, It opens fine but when using the UI is very sluggish and slow
