Getting my Switch Pro Controller to work
Background: I recently purchased a Switch Pro Controller at the advice of a friend of mine who told me that it would not only work well on my Switch, but that it would also link to my pc/steam to allow me to play without having to use a keyboard and mouse. After following and article online I was able to get the controller connected with little issue.

The problem: I finally got around to trying out the controller by playing Horizon: Zero Dawn, which I had enjoyed back when I used to have a Playstation. I was able to get through the tutorial section perfectly fine, but when I went to open the upgrade section/map when the tutorial ended none of my buttons opened it. I tried re-mapping it manually to the - button, but the game would not register it being pressed. I can't see it being a fault of the controller since it works perfectly fine when linked to the nintendo, and it is recognised as a button on big picture mode.

Any advice/work arounds anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Click steam then settings then controller then general controller settings. And some games no matter what controller you use, Xbox games use xbox controls. You would have to mess around with your controller till you figure it out.

Spent over an hour fiddling around with that, but anything that is mapped to that button, in or out of game (e.g. web browsing), just doesn't register. It's like the button doesn't exist.

Just as a smoke test, have you tried another game?

Go to the game then click support then contact the developers of the game and ask them. Also post this in the game's form and maybe someone who uses switch can tell you. Click game then go to community hub then discussions. Then create your topic there.
