Remotely manage a queue of download for an offline steam client?
Example: I want to try a game but I will be back home only in the evening.
Practical solution: I put a memo on my phone and the moment I get back home, I put the game to download. I have a fast connection so it's not a problem, it will be ready within minutes.
More functional solution but less practical: I can access my PC at home through remote desktop and put the game to download, I will find it ready when I get home.

Ideal solution: Since my PC is not always on when I am not home, I want to queue a download for a game remotely for a definite client. Upon login on that client (example: PC at home, but NOT laptop at work), the Steam clients begin whatever download was put in the queue from whatever other device/browser. This way I don't need a memo, I can put the download to queue any moment (I think playstation works like this but I am not sure- android google play store sure does even if the given device is offline).

Before you link me to this page ( https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1025-BD94-12FC-3409 ) no, it is not the same as what I am saying / trying to do. That works only if the given client is actually already online (if it were, I would not even need the remote download function, I would just connect with remote desktop and start the download on the machine).

To me, it seems that it is impossible to do what I want to do...but maybe somebody can prove me wrong.

I know I can pause a download. But I put the example clearly: I am out of home (for whatever reason), I notice I want to play game X and Y. I put them in a download queue (impossible if I am not physically at the client). I get home >>> start the client = download begins because it was put in a download queue remotely already.

No memo needed, no client online needed.

What you say works only if I am at the PC the moment I decide I want to download a game (and is not the case, I am physically not home at the moment but I want to queue a download that will begin the moment I get the home steam client online). Then yes of course I would pause it, but why would I pause it if I could begin it in the first place?

That is why I did the example with the google play store (but I think playstation works the same way, I can't be sure though...) you can add a game to your account and it will begin the download the moment you go online / the device connects.

You can already ready do this as long as your PC is on and logged into Steam because the Steam client service is what triggers the download so whether you make a purchase or it is a free game you can remotely install a game.

yeah exactly, with the PC on there would be no problem for various reasons. It's fine, it is not vital. I was just curious about finding a way to do it.

Normally if I buy a game, I put it in my "never played" section of my library (I have different sections in the library).

For this particular example, I wanted to put in the download queue the Supraland demo (cannot be added to the library and I also cannot download it and have it in "recent games" because it doesn't support Mac so it will not start the download at all). It's fine, I'll just put a reminder and start it physically when I am home (as I normally do), was just curious about alternative ways.
