i enter the steam key steam told me to register the product and i went to the square enix website and registerd and steam still shows the same thing pls help! i have no clue what to do! im new with this steam buying thing!

You haven't activated the game on Steam:

You need to activate it on Steam.

All versions require Steam.

HELP ME. only got 2 codes in my box, 1 dlc, one external website. hope this works.

this was no help. yes we have to activate it on steam but the only code in the box that works on steam says i must activate origional game first. help

Then that code you're trying to activate is the DLC you mentioned in #2 response.

Then on the Square-Enix site, is the Steam -key there?

OP there now has the game tied to Steam though, so I'd imagine it shouldn't pose a big problem.

Since there's no OAuth anymore (Like, "Link this game to my Steam -account"), I'd imagine the key is somewhere in there.

UPDATE 2 Thanks to the brilliant not_hawkeye it turns out there is a 3rd code, hidden behind the 4th CD of 5 CD's. Remember the days when one code was enough to get everything...

Oh, so it's not always the 4th as it was on that Reddit article?

Well, that's still silly on Square's part to hide the most important CD-key behind an installation disc assuming everyone uses those.
