Can you post the BSOD error here or link a picture of it?
start -> computer -> right click on your hdd/ssd with steam library -> properties -> tools tab -> error checking [check now] -> tick both boxes [check now]
reboot and wait for it to finish checking the drives

Out of space doesn't cause a kernel crash.
Either something in kernel space (ring 0) is crashing taking down the kernel with it, or hardware is failing (again, causing a software crash in ring 0).
User space (ring 3) doesn't crash the kernel, that is why we like things in user space. Your apps genereally sit in user space (ring 3) on Windows/Intel and drivers sit in kernel space (ring 0).
