lol thanks for the suggestion. I was hoping something more like how every other business in America operates.
So far my expirence with Steam link and Steam controller is so bad I would not do that to someone I know.
Sorry to hear bad experience though.
Contact and pressure Steam more via Steam Support Ticket.
If you really wish to return and/or resell it, DO NOT open it.
Best of luck to u.
preferences/experiences differ.
if steam controller is available nearby (southern philippines), i'd gladly buy one, provided the price is within my budget.
Hi,
I am the OP. The full story is I ordered Steam Link and the controller on Steam on Nov 27th. After I ordered, it said Steam link will ship the 30th and the controller won't ship until Dec 7th. So I assumed I could cancel the order like every other company and requested a refund for only the controller. Then ordered the controller on Amazon and it got her 2 days faster than the link did. Then suddenly the controller shipped out Dec 1st and arrived today. So I have 2 controllers, one opened and one unopened both of which I really don't want now. I have the link hard wired to a brand new Motorola Surfboard AC1800m dual band and I still see compression and controller lag. Controller is in the Pittsburgh, PA area.
Do you have it set for "Hardware Encoding"
Of course there is some compression, it's streaming the game, not playing it via the hardware driven machine.
i7-3930k 3.20GHz
Ram 32gb
Windows 10 pro
Asus Rampage black motherboard
980ti
SSD
On Just Cause 3 for instance. If your standing still there is no compression, when you start driving it is unplayable amount of compression. Add the unplayable second of lag on the controller to the mix and using the trackpad to turn the charactor around and having to lift your finger of the trackpad and reswipe 3-4 times is also unplayable for me and it is a terrible expirence.. I also have the Nvidia Sheild Android TV and it does not have the same controller lag and amount of compression.
There is no real input lag, unless perhaps u have V-Sync enabled in your games on the gaming PC, that can add to it.
Once thing I noticed is Steam Link did not stream well when my gaming PC's NIC (Wired Ethernet) was set to 1Gbps. Go into the adapter settings and set it to 100Mbps Full Duplex instead.
Thanks, I will give this a shot and see how it goes.
