Steamwebhelper.exe Freezing Youtube Videos in Steam
Hello i've been having odd issues with posted Youtube videos in steam, in forums if i click them to view they freeze solid and normally i need to restart Steam to get it to work...

Today i right clicked Steamwebhelper.exe in my task manager and closed it and it instantly closed the frozen youtube video in steam...

Is anyone else having issues like this with steam?

Youtube website runs fine for me and so do the steam store pages?

Exact same issue.

Store page videos work, but not the community showcase videos. Also youtube links in forums don't work (but sometimes they may? Not too sure, they have worked before at least). It all freezes until I close one or more of the Steamwebhelper.exe's.

Using Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 64-bit. nVidia driver 358.50.

Just a short while ago I posted that I don't seem to be getting freezes on YouTube -videos anymore when I view them on my Activity Feed or the gamehubs' [Video] -section.

I haven't tested the forums yet, but do you get freezes on either one of those two aforementioned ones?

I'm on the Steam Client Beta personally, by the way.

I'm not sure i've used those you mentioned my issues is other players Youtube links in forum threads seem to lock my whole steam up when i try to watch them.

I'm on Standard Steam.

Can you try to opt-in and see if it's any better? (Steam > Settings > Account > Beta Participation)

I'd switch to standard and test, but I'm in a game right now.

EDIT: Well, I switched to standard and it still works fine for me, even with forum posted YouTube videos. Tried multiple videos and multiple threads too.

Hmm weird, mine is still freezing occasionally, pretty sure its the Steamwebhelper.exe.

I'd rather not use a beta at this time as i've had issues with beta apps in the past..

Same thing still happening to me here, I've just taken a habit of checking videos through chrome now...
So if I kill the Steamwebhelper process, do the frozen pages... thaw? lol

Had this for the past couple of months. YMMV but I somehow got the videos working again by going into Settings -> Web Browser -> Delete All Browser Cookies.
Happy new year!

I do that a lot never fixed it for me, the only fix i've found is to delete Steamwebhelper.exe process tree and sometimes i need to do it multiple times..

@Prismatic Thanks for the tip, worked for me and I've had this issue since 2+ years. Let's see if/how long it lasts. :hocusRed:
