Icons next to games
Hi guys. Brand new to this. I've been dying to play some old RPGs and a friend pointed out I could get them here cheaper together than 1 buy itself. Knights of the Old Republic, Knights of the old Republic 2 and Jade Empire. I heard this KotOR2 has all the deleted content so I'm jazzed about that!

I've never played a computer game and really don't do that (my PC can hardly run internet explorer and microsoft word at the same time) but I've always gamed on a TV. I heard there was a way to play Steam on TV though now so I was gonna go ahead and get the games. However I was a bit confused because next to each it has a little icon. I looked around but I couldn't find a list of what those icons were or what they meant. One is a little wavy flag, the other looks to be the steam logo, there's an apple icon and the words Steam play. But not all 3 games have those icons. What do those mean? I'd like to know before I buy the games.

thanks for your help guys :)

Those are icons to show which platforms the game supports. The wavy flag means "Windows", the Stem icon stands for "Linux/Steam OS" and the apple is for Mac computers.

I am 29.

What the hell does that have to do with anything? It's just a simple question bro. If you don't want to answer, you don't have to reply. There's no reason to be an ass.

Thanks Seretti!

Whats the steam play thing mean? As far as I knew that just meant you can always play it. Does that mean the one without it wont let me play it more than once?

Thanks again

It means that the game supports more than one platform.

Steam Play means buy it once, you can play it on all supported OSes.

Man... I'm so lost. I guess that's what I get for not being a techie. What's an Oses? I'm not hip to the lingo. I'm assuming that's like the computer version of like a Nintindo VS a Playsation.

So I just bought these games. My friends little brother said there was a thing called a steam machine that'd let me play these games on my TV and its only 50 bucks so I just grabbed it off amazing (hell yes free shipping) but my question is, how the heck does that console work without a controller, or does it just use like my wireless PS or Xbox controllers?

Steam machine? or Steam link? Steam machines start at about $400 last I knew. Steam Links are about $50.00.

A Steam Link requires a computer or Steam machine (either would need a controller) to connect one to a big screen.

How powerful is your PC exactly? The games you listed are older and don't require a powerful PC to run them.

I'm not sure. I got it at a yard sale back in like 2010 or 2011. I just use it for internet and listening to Spotify. I know it's a Windows computer though because it had Windows 98 and when using it Microsoft had a message telling me I could download XP for free to run it, so I did. What would I check for and where on my computer can I do that to see its power?

dxdiag under your computer search.

Check your processor, RAM (memory) and graphics card and tell me what those are.

Come to think of it, by the time you do all that you could have just installed the games and seen if they work on your system or not that way. X)

If you end up doing that, tell me if they work or not and we'll go from there.

Thank you so much for your help and patience, gandalfstheman. Unfortunately, yesterday I was so dead tired from work when I got home that I straight up crashed. I only have a 8 hour workday today though, so I should be fine and will check as soon as I get home. Typing this on the down low at work right now. hahah.

I'll pop in around 2-3pm California time with the results. I should be home from work by then.
