"Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

So.... yeah... not very promising?
Thanks for the update. Gotta love their responses. Doesn't seem like there's a fool proof solution for streaming ultrawide as of yet, unless anyone knows of any?
I tried YouTube and twitch using obs with mixed results.
I got 21:9 monitor almost a year ago and was broadcasting on my native resolution (2560x1080) without any issues. All of a sudden, about in the middle of last year fall, my friends reported strange color shift in my streams, and from this time that issue still remains.
They work ~ where as Steam=Fail
If this occurs outside Steam, then it's not a Steam issue.
Yours however, perfectly fine. There is nothing "odd" in that screenshot, period.
That is simply video compression, nothing more.
You want your video to look good? Get a faster upload speed from ISP and UP your streaming BitRate to 3500; if people can't watch cause of your bitrate, oh well. But lower bitrate will compress all your image more and more.
You probably got me wrong. I'm talking about issue specifically with Steam broadcasting.
What all settings?
Hardware specs?
Folks no one can help u if u don't share these things.
Saying u have an issues means u need to explain. That means sharing this kind of info. The more we know with regards to this, the better we can possibly help. The less you provide, just leaves us in the dark, and we can't help.
Well, i thought that this issue related purely to aspect ratio of the monitor (or specific resolution). There's nothing wrong with my hardware setup, i'm 100% sure, everything was working fine untill Valve just has released another upd to the client that basically broke encoding for some resolutions.
I tested streaming with 16:9 (FHD) ratio and didnt get that color issue, but once i switch to my native 21:9 — everything fcks up.
There's something wrong with current encoding algorithm that Valve should fix already, nothing that people in community can help each other with.
But if you are really that interested in my specs:

Monitor is LG 29UM65 Ultrawide 2560x1080 @ 60Hz
So are you able to stream outside of Steam using OBS or other streaming software?
Full agreement here. Its Steam. Ive tried every setting under the sun on my setup. 3440x1440 and 2560 x 1080 look like garbage and have those color issues referenced earlier in the thread when streaming via Steam client. If you mash it down to 2560x1440 or usual HD res, no issues.
My specs are on my profile, to be updated with my new Acer x34 Predator today! :)
I cant speak for him. I have. OBS and Twitch. Looks perfect. Steam isnt for the hardcore streamer of course, but to have a few friends check it out, or a random Steam member come in to ask a question, its handy. Doesnt seem anything is being done though.
Can relate to everything said.
