Paypal no longer a payment option in Chile - tons of players affected!
Why did you remove Paypal, Valve? It was the go-to payment method for a lot of us Chilean gamers with no credit card or with no desire to share our CC info with you.

Peru and Colombia both have several other payment methods available to them.

But for Chile, your currency change is actually hurting more people than it's helping.

After many years, non credit card holders finally had a solid, secure way of using Steam WAllet thanks to the local company Multicaja, which acted as a link between real money and Paypal. AND YOU TOOK THIS AWAY FROM US WITH NO EXPLANATION AT ALL.

So either give us back our Paypal option or provide us with a local method like our fellow South American friends have. Prepaid cards, debit card, something. Otherwise, people will go back to pirating games like in the previous decade.

P.S. Some Canadian friends tell me that they STILL get charged in USD on their credit card purchases despite seeing prices in CAD. If this happens to Chile, we're gonna get charged A LOT more than the advertised prices, cause banks do NOT use the same exchange rate Steam does.

Thank you, Valve. Your change actually hurt more than helped.

Lemme explain. Here in Chile the requirements to get an international Visa or MasterCard are ridiculous. Banks not only charge super high maintenance costs, you must also prove that you earn more than USD$700/mo since 6 months ago or more, and if you arent employed but work by yourself, you must give them documentation showing that you've been earning more than $800 since more than one year ago. That without counting the typical "you dont owe anything/aren't in debt" and "you havent asked for a money borrowing", etc. And of course, you must be over 18 years old (although that isnt a big problem).

Think about this for a country where the normal income for a family is between $500-$600 monthly.

You ruled out Paypal for us. This means that basically you're telling us "♥♥♥♥ you chileans, you're too poor for us.". And actually, it feels like you really are telling us that, because, adding salt to the wound, you didn't add any kind of local payment that we could use instead like WebPay, Multicaja or Servipag, for naming some.

So yeah.
Thank you paypal, because now I'm unable to buy anything more from you. It seems like I'll have to do what some friends told me and buy in GoG, Desura and Origin instead.

Come on, when I was at university 25 years ago banks came to us to offer bank accounts, credit cards, etc. I have visa and and master without "super high maintenance costs". Actually I don't pay at all. But I don't want to use my credit card numbers in internet. That is the reason I use Paypal, like I use at eBay, Amazon, and many other places.

If you are too poor to have a credit card, ok, complain, but don't say that "we can't get credit cards".

Not everyone is/was a student, and most banks offer credit cards only to the more high-end universities. I mean seriously, our country isn't the greatest in terms of equality, getting a credit card free isn't easy, and it's not very accessible either. I mean this isn't my case, I could easily get a credit card, but we have to look at our country's reality; most people are not rich, and they won't risk using a credit card on the internet, and paying for it too. PayPal was the perfect option for these people, and now it's gone like nothing. And we're supposed to act as if this was a great new "feature".

11 Oct, 2013 Batman: Arkham Origins Pre-Purchase Gift sent to XXXXX Gift Purchase PayPal $49.99 USD
10 Oct, 2013 Batman: Arkham Origins Pre-Purchase Purchase PayPal $49.99 USD

It makes no sense at all to make a change in the currency so we could get the price in CLP and only accept international ways of payment!!! If you are adding local currency you should at least add local payment options like CuentaRut, cuentas vista, or local credit or debit cards, plus, was it necessary to remove all other previous ways of payment!!!??? Madness!!.:steamfacepalm:

I really loved the fact that was so easy to buy games here using Multicaja and Paypal, I personally have no interest to get a VISA or Master Card because here in Chile the procedure to get an international card is way too much complicated and it's practically of no use within the chilean territory.

I was really hoping to get me and my friends some good games as gifts for Xmass, and now i can't do a single buy...
kinda looks like there's not going to be a rise in the chilean purchases with this change on the ways of payment... Valve should really reconsider to add local ways to pay, or will loose a lot of sells.

Absurdo. Sin paypal es una lata.

What's most infuriating for me is being unable to load new DLC for software I already own... This is madness... Let's give them CLP, but let's not give them a way of paying directly in CLP... However made that call is an ignorant person.

I speak directly to this ignorant and Steam for supporting this change. You showed Us you are not aware of your demographic, of the preferred payment method used in a region. Hell You're not even aware of the ratio of piracy vs legally obtained games over here do You? All you do with this change is drive people into 3rd parties, into scamms and shady ways of loading balance into their accounts. Most people will not even see this as an option and will be driven to piracy once again.

Multicaja + Paypal was the best method of payment we had. If you are really worried about our advantages in local coin rate you could just made paypal charge Us the difference upon purchase. I'll be down with that, but you made it look like it was a feature we craved for, and instead gave us air in return.

truly Disappointed
