My voice playback on steam sounds really weird
So I've tested my microphone everywhere else, from skype to teamspeak. It works perfectly and without any issues, even on windows voice recorder. The only place I get issues is at steam, whether the microphone test or ingame voice chat. It changes my voice to a really buff noise and you can barely understand anything with it. Is there any fix for this? Ive looked this issue up on google and I failed to find anything.

Thanks in advance,
Adam.

TLDR; My microphone works outside steam, but for steam is just sounds glitchy and noisy, any fixes?

Exactly the same problem here, I tried almost everything. Not sure if it is a bug or not.

I had windows 8.1 at the time but just upgraded to windows 10 to see if it fixed the problem. So far no luck.

Updating my sound card worked for me, that might fix yours too, give it a try!

I have found a fix for myself, one of my nvidia drivers that delt with its share program in GeForce Experience was messing with something. Turned of Share and now it works fine but i cant record for the moment until there is a fix.
