GUIDE: Whoever has issues getting the driver for new Xbox One Wireless Controller Adapter for Windows 10
This guide is for people that can't get Win10 to automatically find the correct driver for their Wireless Adapter. Also, this guide uses certified and 100% trusted Microsoft sources so there is zero chance you'll get a virus or something else when using the download link from someone using shareonline or uploaded or whatever.

If you already followed this tutorial earlier and got the old driver installed. Just follow steps 1 to 5. Skip steps 6 and 7. Continue with step number 8.

1. Go to: catalog.update.microsoft.com (it has to be opened with Microsoft Internet Explorer)
2. Search for "Xbox Wireless" which should give you 13 results
3. a) For x64 bit systems: Download driver "Microsoft-Other hardware-Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows", Driver (Networking), Version number 20.24.34.491, file size 213 KB
b) For x86 systems: Download driver "Microsoft-Other hardware-Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows", Driver (Networking), Version number 19.53.40.791, file size 189 KB
4. Open that shopping cart thing in the top right
5. Download the driver to any folder and go there and unpack it using winzip/winrar
6. Plug in the wireless receiver and open the device manager
7. It should show the troublesome receiver as an unknown device called "XBOX ACC"
8. Right click the device, select update driver, select choose manually
9. Navigate to the folder where you unpacked the downloaded thingy
10. Install -> PROFIT
11. Controller and Wireless dongle should pair and work just fine! Audio and Vibrations included!

DISCLAIMER:
It seems like with the upcoming Windows 10 build in early November EVERY version of Win10 should be able to detect the correct driver on its own and no longer install it as an unknown device.

If I helped someone and that nice person feels sort of generous I'd be happy about a Steam gift :P

Hello, same problem here Win 10 20H2 with Ryzen 7 5800x. Driver was not found, tried every single driver listet here. Nothing worked. So I still have error code 48. By the way, if you have no wireless device installed there is no flight modus in Win 20H2. Can somebody help? In an other thread they were talkin about problems with new AMD CPUs.

I just built a whole new PC with a Ryzen 5800x as well. I'm using Windows 10 Pro 20H2. I tried a bunch of drivers. The one that worked for me was the one labelled:

Xbox - Net - 7/11/2017 12:00:00 AM - 1.0.46.1
Windows 10 Anniversary Update and Later Servicing Drivers,Windows 10 S and Later Servicing Drivers
7/10/2017
1.0.46.1

I've got the Windows 20H2 update installed, I used the Xbox Accessories App to update my controller, and I even opted into the latest beta build of Steam, but it still has issues with the controller. It mostly works in Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, except the trigger buttons won't work and you use the right trigger to accelerate. Then I tried Warhammer 40K: Space Marine and it won't detect it at all.

However, the controller works perfectly fine in Minecraft Bedrock Edition. And to further test things, I downloaded Hollow Knight through Game Pass and that works just fine too. I've also seen others say the controller works just fine with the Epic Game Store. Pretty sure Valve is just being slow to update things.

Hi, i solved problem with XBOX ACC drivers but now when i plug in my receiver it's double in device menager. When im trying to pair the controller with the receiver seems to be ok both controller and receiver turns into pairing mode but thei cannot fin eachother? Any ideas?
None of the driver .cab files mentioned in this thread are doing ♥♥♥♥ for me. Xbox ACC -> update driver -> select local and the folder they download to -> "Windows was unable to install your XBOX ACC" - "Windows could not find drivers for your device"
also get "Please enter another location; the locaiton you specified does not contain any driver package (.INF) files." - opening the .cab files and there is no .inf inside, do I need to find one?

Anyone else? fresh 5800x aorus 570x build, fresh install of windows. Still not working.

edit: tried force-installing the cab file with DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath but it always says error cannot find file

edit2: got it working! I didn't notice the .inf files were in the cab, just extract the cab files first and ran it again. The very last link provided didnt work for me, the one that did was "AMD64-all-20810869_8ce2975a7fbaa06bcfb0d8762a6275a1cf7c1dd3.cab" which I think was in the OP.

Why Microsoft take 5 years to do this?
CanOfBeans 29/nov./2020 às 20:53
Guys, it's NOT Windows or the new controller. I've used the controller with Minecraft Bedrock Edition and several games that I've downloaded through Game Pass, and it works just fine. The problem is Steam itself. Valve hasn't implemented support for the controller yet.

You my friend...are a true hero! I treid nearly every driver from this website and none of it worked. But the one you mentioned was the solution. Thank you very much!
ShundoMagikarp 5/dez./2020 às 8:11
OP FTW - Leave it up to the Steam community to figure this out. Shame on MS for bailing on updating their driver to properly match the driver ID to the hardware ID of their own hardware!. Their solution is literally "Buy a new controller". This whole circus show was a throw back to the days of Win 98 when PnP never worked as advertised. Following OP's instructions worked perfectly. Thanks buddy! :steamhappy:
