To clarify, this has happened to me on Store pages, Forums, AND Greenlight items. Friggin everywhere in the Steam client except for my Library.
dont forget the steam overlay when you are alt tabbed in game. this needs to be fixed so i can watch videos while waiting for my next match to appear in usf4 or rocket league or any other game so i dont have to alt tab over and over to see if i got in a game.
I tried 4 or 5 different times today and couldn't get that to work at all. Whole steam window freeze as before, had to use task manager to close steamwebhelper to get it working again.
I have no idea what this is all about but it's clear that they aren't bothered about fixing it
I had Space Engineers selected in my Library. I saw "Monocycle v.1" in the Workshop highlights and had to check it out
I only got 2 dots of the YouTube animation before it froze up.

Should not matter too much, but also running at the time:
Chrome
MEGA service
Logitech Gaming Software
Logitech Profiler
AI Suite II
"Get Windows 10" lol
Hmm, logitech profiler?
I'm running that as well.
I wonder if this could be something to do with it? It shouldn't be, but you never know with PC's
i dont use that software and the video player plugin in the client's web browser still freezes intermittently. Its an issue with valve's terrible iteration of Chromium.
Went back to normal at the end of November of 2015 till begin fo Jan.this year.
A. People taking care of various steam client bugs are really incompetent/over(under)paid so they literally can't even be bothered to lift a finger to address those problems.
B. It's an intentional attempt to make people login from various other browsers.
I really can't believe this still hasn't been fixed. My impression is that it's not related to Adobe's Flash Player, because Youtube uses that damn HTML5 player now and Youtube videos on Steam do exactly show the same frontend (as oppsed to shop videos, which still use Flash).
To me it makes sense that the problem arose when Google changed the Youtube player.
